Nabäti Eatery is a vegetarian kitchen on the Keizerstraat in Rotterdam Centrum. There is no meat in our kitchen, we serve no alcoholic drinks, we use no alcohol in our cooking, and there is no animal rennet in our halloumi or our yoghurt. Everything we serve is halal by composition.
We do not hold a halal certificate, and we will not tell you we do. What we can tell you is exactly what is and is not in the food, which is usually the part people are actually asking about.
Halal by composition means the answer sits in the ingredients rather than on a certificate. There is no meat, so the question of slaughter does not arise. We serve no alcoholic drinks and no alcohol goes into the cooking. Our halloumi and our yoghurt are made without animal rennet.
If a certificate specifically is what you need, we are not able to offer one. We would rather say that here than have you find out at the counter.
Being direct about this, because it changes what you will find here: we do not serve meat at all. Not chicken, not lamb, not beef, and not a halal version of any of them. We are a vegetarian kitchen cooking Jordanian and Levantine food, and every dish on the menu can also be made vegan.
For a lot of people that makes the halal question simple. If you came looking for shawarma, better that you know now.
Jordanian and Levantine cooking: chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, aubergine, pomegranate, za’atar, fresh herbs and warm bread. Falafel fried to order. Hummus, spicy hummus, msabbaha, baba ghanouj, muhammara and foul mdammas, each with pita. Fatteh bowls built on chickpeas and crisp bread. Sandwiches, sharing platters, and boxes for a whole table.
We are in the middle of the Keizerstraat, about five minutes on foot from Rotterdam Blaak. That makes us a practical option for a halal lunch in the centre, a table in the evening, or feeding a group without anyone having to check the menu twice.
Every dish on the menu page carries its allergen line, taken from our own kitchen’s allergen sheet, alongside its vegan mark. Where the sheet does not cover something, the page says to ask our staff, and our staff will know. The full allergen sheet is downloadable from the menu page.
Sit down with us on the Keizerstraat, order through Uber Eats or Thuisbezorgd, or ask about catering an office lunch or an event. Catering comes out of the same kitchen, so nothing about it changes what is in the food.
